- Climate Change: Social Science and Civil Society Perspectives - Monday 9 March 9 2009 (13.30-14.30) at the Royal Statistical Society, 12 Errol St., London EC1Y 8LX. Part of a day-long event, part of the ESRC's Festival of Social Science week, which aims to achieve a meeting of minds between academics, environmental groups and members of the policy community with interests in the social science research agenda into the climate crisis. Presentations will be given by academics of their ongoing research, followed by presentations from environmental NGOs and campaigners on how they perceive the research and policy agenda going forward, and each session will end with questions and comments from a panel including representatives of the policy community.

- IQ2 Green Festival - 25 January 2009 at the Royal Geographical Society, London, 10:45am - 8pm. Doors open at 10am. Building on the success of six years of staging the highest quality debates and events in London, Intelligence Squared aims to raise the level of awareness of the scientific, regulatory, economic and social dimensions of climate change by bringing together the brightest thinkers on the subject from around the globe. The festival will include four debates including one led by secondary school children in association with the RGS as well as 6 expert seminars. Attendees in every debate and seminar will have the chance to put their questions to the specialists while outside the debating rooms there will be a whole range of fun but thought-provoking activities in which to take part.
