They don’t pay off your phone or bill. The only thing they do is allow you to unlock the phone for use of the network where it’s deployed.

You don’t need to suspend service, just by leaving the country you have effectively done so. Suspension does not stop refills or billing on either postpaid or prepaid. All it does is stop the SIM card from working.

No use or purchases can be done using your phone number, except for 911 and 611 calls. Your number remains suspended until you reactivate it. Your monthly plan, feature, and installment agreement fees, if applicable, continue. You can’t find your lost or stolen device using GPS.

Can you text on a suspended phone?

Suspending service means your phone will no longer connect to your carrier’s network, and you cannot make any calls or send texts. It’s not a permanent solution as most carriers limit the length of suspension to a few months, after which service resumes automatically and you’re back to being charged your full rate.

There is no set time. It all depends on your credit and payment history. Service could be suspended within a day of being past due to weeks. You must have a good payment history if you are a month past due and haven’t been suspended yet.

Does AT pay early termination fees?

AT doesn’t currently pay off all or a portion of any termination fee, but it will give you a $250 bill credit per device you bring for your plan. This could go toward any cancellation fees or device payment plans you had with your prior provider.
