How to calculate the score for B2 First (FCE)

  1. Reading: 30 items = 42 points. Part 1: 8 items (1 item = 1 point)
  2. Use of English: 22 items = 28 points.
  3. Writing: 2 items = 40 points.
  4. Listening: 30 items = 30 points (1 ítem = 1 point)
  5. Speaking: 60 points in total (not divided into items or parts).

How do you mark FCE test?

Marks for each of the criteria are combined to give 20 possible marks for each question. There are 40 possible marks for the whole paper. Correct answers in the Listening paper are worth 1 mark each. There are 30 possible marks in the Listening paper.

What mark do you need to pass FCE?

160 or above
Valid scores on the FCE Exam range from 140 to 190. A score of 160 or above is considered a “pass” and students with that score will receive the Cambridge First Certificate, which corresponds to a level B2 in English on the CEFR.

Can you fail FCE?

You might think you’ve “failed” your FCE test if the examiner determines that you are unable to perform tasks essential to the work you did before your injury. The examination report might have such stringent restrictions that you won’t be able to go back to work at all, and will have to file for total disability.

Can you get C1 on FCE?

  1. Add up the points for each part separately.
  2. Work out the percentage obtained in each part.
  3. Calculate the average score of the 5 percentages.
  4. Convert the percentage into a score from the Cambridge English Scale.

Can I retake FCE exam?

Is FCE better than CAE?

The FCE is an upper intermediate level English assessment, while the CAE is an advanced level English assessment. Basically, the CAE is the more difficult of the two tests.

Is C1 better than B2?

B2 is still mostly textbook language – you have some access to native expressions but you still deal with pre-set phrases and usually need to be explained new things. C1 moves towards much more instinctive language – where you just know that something is right and you have a feel for the language.
