What is kwila oil?

Supreme Garden Furniture Oil is a premium, “oil rich”, fast-drying, furniture oil. It is designed to protect your furniture while enriching and prolonging the timbers natural colour.

Should you oil kwila decking?

We recommend the boards be end-sealed with a quality penetrating oil as soon as possible after cutting and before final installation. In order to minimise surface checking, cupping and discolouration it is recommended Kwila decking be coated on all four sides prior to being laid.

Should I oil or stain Kwila?

If your deck is Kwila, for example, you may want to use an oil to preserve its deep red-brown hue. Wood stains add colour. So if you want to enhance your timber with a new colour, or if your deck is very weathered, a stain could be the way forward.

There are different shades of stains to choose from, We use Cabots natural stain we found this brings the kwila back to the original colour, If your kwila deck was a silver colour you would need a darker stain.

For a natural, oiled finish use Resene Furniture and Decking Oil. To enhance and retain the natural colour of Kwila and other hardwoods use Resene Kwila Timber Stain. Allow for a second application after 3-4 months.
